The Projects Development Office (PDO) of the Salesians of Don Bosco, ANN Province, through the P-TVET Office, successfully hosted the National Decent Work Dialogue on Thursday, 4 December 2025, at JOBITECH Abuja, bringing together key national stakeholders committed to strengthening labour standards and promoting human dignity in the workplace.<\/p>

Held under the theme \u201cPromoting Decent Work, Rejecting Exploitation: Building an Inclusive and Resilient Workforce for National Development,\u201d the dialogue created a platform for open conversation, joint learning, and national advocacy on the state of decent work in Nigeria.<\/p>

The forum recorded 139 participants, including representatives from:
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment
The German Embassy in Nigeria, The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC)
The Trade Union Congress (TUC)
National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)
Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON)
National Human Rights Commission
Staff and students of JOBITECH Abuja
Salesians of Don Bosco and other invited partners<\/p>

Their presence demonstrated a united commitment to addressing labour exploitation and ensuring that young people and workers across the country have access to fair, safe, and empowering employment conditions. \"\"<\/p>

The National Decent Work Dialogue is part of the Advocacy, Networking, and Joint Learning Pillar of Global Program II (GP-2), an initiative that aims to strengthen TVET systems, promote ethical work standards, and foster stronger collaboration among government, industry, civil society, and educational institutions.
By convening this national conversation, the Salesians of Don Bosco, ANN aim to:
Raise awareness on decent work as a national priority,
Advocate against all forms of workplace exploitation,
Build stronger partnerships that influence policy and practice,
Demonstrate the Salesian commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of\u00a0young people.<\/p>

Participants engaged in rich discussions on governance, workplace safety, labour regulations, and the role of TVET institutions in shaping a skilled, protected, and future-ready workforce.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the National Occupational Standards (NOS), which reinforced the importance of quality assurance and standardisation across Nigeria\u2019s technical and vocational ecosystem.<\/p>

The PDO expressed deep gratitude to all partners and stakeholders for their presence and contributions. Representing the PDO team was Mr Cletus EtukAkpan, the PTVET director, whose exceptional coordination ensured a strong and visible presence of the team at the event. This achievement directly supports the goals of Global Program II.<\/p>

The successful hosting of the National Decent Work Dialogue marks another significant step in the Province\u2019s continued advocacy for young people, workers, and vulnerable groups. The PDO is confident that the outcomes of this gathering will deepen national collaboration, inform policy engagement, and strengthen collective efforts to promote decent work across Nigeria.<\/p>
