Real impact is not only measured by numbers, but by the visible transformation in the lives of young people.
Across our training centres in Onitsha, this transformation is increasingly evident as participants in the Youth Employability Booster Programme gain more than technical skills.
The employability booster initiative is implemented by the Don Bosco Development Initiative (DBDI) in partnership with Young Africa. Through this initiative, participants are building confidence, gaining hands-on experience, and developing clear pathways towards sustainable livelihoods.
This progress was observed during a recent Monitoring and Evaluation visit led by Mr Kenneth Dike, the National M&E Officer, who engaged with multiple centres implementing the programme in partnership with Young Africa. The visit provided an opportunity to assess training quality, interact with participants, and evaluate the programme’s effectiveness across various sectors.
Participants across the centres shared positive feedback about their learning experience, particularly highlighting the dedication of the mastercrafts and the practical nature of the training. From fashion design and beauty to ICT and agriculture, the learning environments reflect a strong emphasis on real-world application, equipping young people with skills that are both relevant and marketable.
The commitment of training partners continues to create structured, supportive spaces where young people can grow. Many participants expressed satisfaction not only with the skills they are acquiring but also with the personal growth they are experiencing. Their willingness to recommend the programme to others further demonstrates its impact and relevance.
In addition to technical training, the integration of weekly life skills and entrepreneurship sessions is helping to shape a new mindset among participants, one focused on resilience, innovation, and long-term success. This holistic approach ensures that beneficiaries are not only skilled but also prepared to navigate the realities of employment and enterprise.
As the programme continues to grow, it is clear that its true value lies in the opportunities it creates and the futures it helps to shape. We invite partners, collaborators, and stakeholders to join us in expanding this impact, ensuring more young people are equipped with the tools they need to build meaningful, sustainable lives.
