Irregular migration and human trafficking represent a violation of fundamental human rights. Thousands of deaths and victims of trafficking are constantly recorded. In response to this great challenge, the Salesians of St John Bosco in collaboration with VIS (Volontariato Internazionel per lo Sviluppo, Italy) and VIDES (Volontariato Internazionale Donna Educazione Sviluppo, Italy) have embarked on a three-year initiative: Free to leave, Free to stay aim at awareness raising at the dangers of irregular migration, round table discussions, provision of skills and trainings in the various Salesian TVET Centres of Ondo, Onitsha and Ijebu, etc.
Currently, the awareness campaign is ongoing in the following states: Lagos, Ogun, Anambra, Ondo and Edo.
