Maradi, Niger. 22/10/2025 – In a spirit of faith and collaboration, the Salesian missionaries assigned to Arlit — Fr. John Val, Fr
. JohnMary, and Fr. Julius — met today with Bishop Ignatius of Maradi Diocese to discuss the priorities and pastoral direction of their mission. The meeting, which also included the Diocesan Economer, the outgoing Parish Priest Fr. Narcisse Ayeda, and his Vicar Fr. Policap Jagaba, provided an opportunity for constructive dialogue on strengthening the Salesian presence within the diocese.
Discussions focused on clarifying responsibilities, identifying pastoral needs, and aligning missionary efforts with the vision of the local Church. The encounter was described as both “insightful and encouraging,” setting a strong foundation for continued collaboration between the Salesians and the Diocese of Maradi.
The missionaries are scheduled to depart for Arlit on Thursday, October 23, 2025, immediately following the conclusion of the Diocesan Assembly. They expressed gratitude for the bishop’s support and invited the faithful to unite with them in prayer as they embark on this new mission of faith, service, and evangelization in northern Niger.
