Missioni Don Bosco Partnership Driving Youth Empowerment and Community Development Across ANN Province

The Project Development Office (PDO) of the Salesians of Don Bosco – Africa, Nigeria Niger Province continues to strengthen its mission of youth empowerment, community development, and sustainable impact through strategic partnerships with international development organisations. One of these key partners is Missioni Don Bosco, based in Turin, Italy, whose support over the years has contributed significantly to implementing impactful projects across multiple communities in Nigeria.

Advancing Sustainable Development Through Partnership

Through this collaboration, numerous projects have been executed across sectors such as:

– Renewable energy

– Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

– Education and scholarships

– Community infrastructure

– Livelihood and economic empowerment

These initiatives align with the broader goal of improving livelihoods, promoting self-reliance, and empowering vulnerable populations, especially young people.

Technical and Vocational Skills Development (TVET)

Missioni Don Bosco has supported several vocational training initiatives across Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Kebbi States. These include:

  • Expansion of tailoring skills programmes
  • Establishment of vocational training centres
  • Ongoing development of a Technical & Vocational Training Centre in Ijebu Ode

These programmes have provided over 1,300 young people with practical, income-generating skills, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods.

 Education and Scholarship Support

Education remains a key pillar of development. Through scholarship programmes:

  • 24 Salesian students in formation have received educational support
  • 110 vulnerable students across various communities have benefited from scholarships

These interventions ensure access to quality education for those who might otherwise be excluded.

 Community Infrastructure Development

Significant investments have also been made in community infrastructure, including:

  • Construction of sports complexes in Iju (Lagos) and Koko (Kebbi State)
  • Renovation of Mary Help of Christians Church in Akure, Ondo State

These facilities serve thousands of community members, promoting youth engagement, social development, and community cohesion.

 Livelihood and Economic Empowerment

The expansion of the Don Bosco Fish Farm in Ijebu Ode represents a key step toward economic empowerment and food security, supporting beneficiaries with practical opportunities for income generation.

 Youth Outreach and Engagement

The procurement of an animation vehicle has enhanced outreach efforts, enabling the Salesian mission to engage more effectively with young people across communities.

Across these interventions:

  • Thousands of direct beneficiaries have been reached
  • Multiple communities across Nigeria have been impacted
  • Young people have gained access to skills, education, and opportunities

The PDO remains deeply grateful to Missioni Don Bosco for their continued commitment to sustainable development, youth empowerment, and community transformation.

This partnership exemplifies how collaborative efforts can create long-term, meaningful impact in the lives of young people and vulnerable communities.

As the PDO continues to expand its work across Nigeria and Niger, partnerships like this remain essential in scaling impact and reaching more communities in need.

Organisations and partners interested in supporting impactful development projects are encouraged to collaborate with the Project Development Office.

Together, we can continue to empower young people and transform communities.
