Friday, 30th October 2025, marked the start of a new chapter for the St. Charles Luwanga and Companions’ Community as they welcomed Most Rev. Dr Augustine Obiora Akubueze, the Archbishop of Benin Archdiocese and the metropolitan of Benin Ecclesiastical Province, during the Provincial’s first brotherly visitation to the community.
Most Rev. Dr Akubueze, during this visit, officially handed over the Regina Mundi Catholic Church, Evbuarhue, Edo State, to the Salesians of St. John Bosco Congregation, Africa-Nigeria-Niger, ANN Province.

The handover was received by the Provincial, Very Rev Fr. Peter Morba SDB, on behalf of the Province.
Also present at the ceremony were the Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Nweke SDB (Rector), Rev. Fr. Michael Ebor SDB (Vice Rector), Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Onyike SDB (Administrator) and other members of the Salesian community.

The air was filled with great joy and celebration. The students in the parish expressed their excitement with a warm welcome to the Bishop, which was accompanied by singing and the presentation of a bouquet. The parishioners were not left out as they also gathered enthusiastically to welcome and honour him on this special occasion.

The Archbishop, with great joy, also blessed holy water for our parishioners and imparted his apostolic blessings on all present before leaving the community.

With the Salesians now in charge of the parish, we believe that the lives of more people will be improved. We encourage your continuous prayers and support for the Salesians to continue to spread this good work of impacting the lives of young people.
