The PROGETTO UNO is European Union and Italian Ministry of Interior sponsored project for Nigerian migrants who are willing to come back. It is being operated by VIS and implemented in Nigeria by the Salesians of Don Bosco, PDO Lagos Antenna, with a reintegration plan to improve their lives and give them A NEW BEGINNING. They are been guided by the partners in Italy and an overview by the project staff of the PDO. No Assisted Voluntary Returned Migrant (AVRM) is given cash rather a choice of business is set up from renting a store to stocking it for business operations with a Monitoring &Evaluation (M&E) of the AVRM for six months. So far, 52 persons have benefited from the PROGETTO UNO across Nigeria. The project is truly changing lives and giving beneficiaries access to new opportunity and improved livelihood.
Helen is a voluntary returned migrant who came back from Italy through the Uno Project. Upon her arrival, she was granted the same humane assistance the other returnees received and was ushered into her new life. With the help of the Salesians of Don Bosco AFW, Nigeria, through the UNO project, she started her dream business of ‘Provision Store’.
John Michael is also a voluntary returned migrant whose business intention was to embark on mini intrastate transportation. This has been achieved for him in Benin City under the guide of the project officers and he is happier for it.
