The PDO team of the Salesians of Don Bosco ANN has commenced a four-day Life Skills Training program on Monday, July 14th, and will conclude on Thursday, July 17th, 2025.
Youth leaders and TVET teachers from centres across Nigeria, including Semke, Koko, Onitsha, and Ondo, have gathered at the Provincial House in Iju to learn critical life skills. They will return to their centres to pass these skills on to the young people in their care.
The objective of this training is to equip participants with essential skills, including teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving, enabling them to thrive in their workplaces and daily lives.
Speaking with Art43 Media, Mr. Cletus Linus Etukakpan, PTVET Coordinator of the ANN Province and one of the facilitators, emphasised the importance of these skills for navigating life’s daily challenges. According to him, “One has to have certain skills in life to enable them to survive the day-to-day challenges of life, and these skills are called life skills.” He added that when young people are equipped with these skills, they become more self-aware, collaborate effectively, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Mr. Etukakpan urged participants to organise further training at their centres and, most importantly, to implement every aspect of the training they have received. He commended his co-facilitators, Mr. Uche Alphonsus and Mr. Cornelius, as well as the PDO facilitation team, expressing confidence that initiatives like this will ensure “tomorrow will be better than yesterday.” He also wished the participants safe travels as they return to their centres on Friday, July 18th, 2025.
