Sharing his vision, he stated that, “The purpose of celebrating the staff of the provincial house is to motivate them to remain dedicated, remind them they are valued, and strengthen the synergy we’ve built as a community.”

He emphasised that while each worker has a unique role, no position holds more value than another. Together, their contributions fuel the success of the Provincial community and its numerous development projects.

The event, held in the Hall of the Provincial House, allowed each staff member to invite a guest, preferably their partner. This thoughtful gesture promotes family bonding and reinforces the sense of community.

Fr. Airoboman noted that staff enjoy working at the Provincial House because they feel seen, supported, and empowered. The team prays together, shares a strong rapport, and has opportunities for personal and professional growth. He added that the Salesians are intentional about the mental well-being of their workforce, which contributes to a happy and thriving work environment.

A major highlight of the day was the surprise award presentation to staff. The awards came unexpectedly, adding excitement and appreciation to the occasion. Activities such as dance, fun quizzes and games with exciting prizes also spiced up the celebration. Delivering the keynote address, Fr. Toni commended the workers for their dedication and highlighted the importance of providing excellent services. He quoted an African proverb: “When the root is deep, there is no need to fear the wind.” He reminded the staff that work done well earns respect and recognition. More importantly, we should see our work and services as something divine.

Several workers expressed appreciation to the Salesians for organising the event. Miracle, a housekeeper, told Art43media that this was the first time in her four years at the Provincial House that such a celebration was held. She stated that one of the best experiences as a worker is that the PDO always celebrates staff birthdays and organises memorable end-of-year parties.

Mrs. Christian Cletus, wife of Mr. Cletus, the TVET Coordinator for Nigeria, shared her gratitude and excitement, especially for being one of the prize winners during the games.

The celebration ended on a joyful note, with plenty to eat and drink, and everyone leaving motivated, valued and hopeful for the next workers’ day celebration. http://pdosdbann.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/IMG_8370.mov
